The Golden Thread – Original Contemporary Abstract Painting

A sophisticated exploration of colour, texture and gentle movement

The Golden Thread is an original contemporary abstract painting that brings together soft, atmospheric colour with energetic flashes of turquoise, coral, yellow, green and lavender.

At first glance, the painting feels calm and serene, with its powder-blue and muted lilac foundation. Look more closely, however, and a lively conversation between colour and texture begins to emerge.

Loose vertical brushstrokes, softly layered shapes and flashes of contrasting colour create a wonderfully tactile surface, while delicate golden circular lines drift across the composition, linking the different elements together.

These circles give the painting its distinctive character — almost as though a golden thread is gently travelling through the layers of colour.

There is no single interpretation, which is part of its appeal. Depending on the light and the surrounding décor, it can feel serene, playful, contemporary or quietly energetic.

This is an original piece of artwork, painted by Maureen Chaloner, and would make a sophisticated addition to a modern home, bedroom, hallway, living space, study or creative workspace.

A painting to discover

Some paintings announce themselves immediately. Others invite you to stop and look a little longer.

The Golden Thread belongs to the second kind.

Its gentle background creates a sense of calm, while the flashes of colour and looping golden lines reveal themselves gradually. It is an abstract painting designed not to tell you what to see, but to allow you to discover your own story within it.

Original art with colour, texture and a little mystery.
